August 30, 2012
UAT20101200857

Arrested:
Rodney Wayne Huston, 59
32000 Block of Highway 74
Kingston, Arkansas 72742

Charges:
Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition
Theft by Deception

In December 2010 Upper Allen Police received a report from a victim that they were the victim of fraud. The victim reported that she met Huston in February 2010 while he was acting in the capacity of a salesman that came to her door. Huston likely observed the victims diminished capacity and during the course of the next several months, Huston convinced the victim that he should act as her Power of Attorney. During the next nine months, Huston diverted money from the victim’s accounts for his personal use to include the purchase of a Cadillac Escalade. Huston stolen in excess of $150,000 in cash and property and left the victim homeless for a period of time. Huston’s whereabouts were unknown for a period of time until he was located in Arkansas after an arrest for a crime in that state.

After a lengthy investigation, in August 2012 Upper Allen Police obtained a warrant for Huston’s arrest. Huston was arrested at his residence in Arkansas and extradited back to Pennsylvania on August 30, 2012. Huston was arraigned and bail was denied due to Huston’s flight risk status. Upper Allen Police were assisted in Arkansas by Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Arkansas State Police.

On September 10, 2010 a preliminary hearing was held before District Judge Donald Howell. All charges were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas and Huston’s bail was set 4 million dollars.
