Upper Allen Resident Charged with Five Armed Robberies

On 12/11/2012 @ 9:30 PM the Subway at 4 Gettysburg Pike, Upper Allen Township, was robbed by a man armed with a knife who fled the scene prior to police arrival (see original release). Police believed that the robbery was connected to four other armed robberies in the Mechanicsburg area to include:

Pizza Hut, 610 E. Simpson St., 11/04/2012
Subway, Windsor Park Shopping Center, 11/12/2012
Hemps Above, 105 N. Arch St., 11/15/2012
Subway, 1010 Wesly Dr., 11/18/2012

During the robberies of Hemps Above and Subway (Wesley Dr.) a handgun was displayed. In the robberies of Pizza Hut and Subway (Windsor Park) a crowbar or stick was displayed. During an investigation over the next four months, Kennedy was identified as a suspect. On April 18, 2013 Kennedy was arrested at his residence on an unrelated charge and was placed in Cumberland County Prison. On April 19, 2013 Upper Allen Police charged Kennedy with the five armed robberies listed above. Kennedy was arraigned by District Judge Vivian Cohick and remained in Cumberland County Prison under $500,000 bail. A preliminary hearing will be held before District Judge Brenda Knepper at a later date. The investigation is ongoing. Upper Allen Police were assisted by Mechanicsburg Police, Lower Allen Police, Lower Paxton Police and Silver Spring Township Police.
