The patch indicates that Upper Allen Township was formed in 1850 and it is divided into four sections:
- History: The covered bridge represents our rich heritage (actual bridge at Messiah College campus).
- Church: The church represents a strong religious conviction in the township.
- Farm: The farm represents our agricultural heritage.
- Factory: The factory represents our growth in industry.
