Afternoon Crash Increases Traffic Backlog on South Market Street

On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM the Upper Allen Police responded to the 1300 block of South Market Street, near the PA Turnpike overpass for a two-vehicle injury crash. The investigation determined that the operator of the silver Ford Focus was distracted by looking for an item that was dropped on the vehicle floor. Due to this distraction, the operator failed to see that traffic ahead was backed up due to the traffic signal at the intersection of Allen Distribution Drive. The driver of the Focus attempted to swerve, but was unable to avoid a collision with the red Dodge Ram 1500 ahead of him. The crash caused disabling damage to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene. The driver of the Focus was transported to an area hospital for evaluation of his injuries. The driver of the Ram 1500 did not report any injuries.
