On Saturday, December 28, 2024, Upper Allen Police responded to a vehicle crash with entrapment at the South Market Street overpass above the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Upon arrival, officers found that the trapped driver had managed to extricate themselves from the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. An investigation revealed that one driver failed to maintain their lane, crossing into oncoming traffic and causing a head-on collision. The crash is still under investigation. Upper Allen Police were assisted by the Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, and Penn State Health Life Lion EMS.
