On Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at approximately 7:45 am, the Upper Allen Police responded to a three vehicle crash which occurred on US Route 15 northbound, just prior to the Mechanicsburg/Bowmansdale exit. The investigation revealed that due to the heavy morning traffic congestion, both Trautman and Zic had come to a stop in the left lane. Gilmore was unable to stop her vehicle in time, and collided with the rear end of Zic’s vehicle. This impact pushed Zic’s vehicle into Trautman’s vehicle. The left lane was blocked for approximately 20 minutes until officers were able to clear the crash to the right shoulder.

Gilmore reported being injured in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Zic and Trautman also reported minor injuries but did not require EMS transport. The Upper Allen Police were assisted at the scene by the Upper Allen Fire Department and the Monroe Township Fire Department.

Motorists are reminded it is their responsibility to ensure they leave enough space between their vehicle and those in front so they can safely bring their vehicle to a stop if an emergency situation arises.
