On Monday, January 21, 2019 at approximately 6:40 PM, the Upper Allen Police were dispatched to a crash involving an injured operator at the intersection of South Market Street and Gettysburg Pike. An investigation determined that McElwain failed to stop at the steady red signal on South Market Street. As a result, Nighbert crashed into the driver side of McElwain’s vehicle causing substantial damage to both vehicles. One of the involved parties was transported to the hospital due to an injury sustained during the crash. The Upper Allen Police were assisted at the crash scene by the Upper Allen Township Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police and Geisinger Holy Spirit EMS.
