Single Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Route 15

On January 27, 2014 at 11:40 PM, Upper Allen Police responded to a single vehicle crash into the concrete median on Route 15 South near Cumberland Parkway. Quinchia was the driver and sole occupant of the car and was transported to Hershey Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Route 15 was shut down for an extended period of time due to the investigation, cleanup and repair of the median. Upper Allen Police were assisted on scene by West Shore EMS, Upper Allen Fire Department and PennDOT.

Attempted Burglaries to Homes Under Construction

During the month of January 2014, the Upper Allen Police Department has received two (2) reports of attempted burglaries to homes under construction in the Braeburn Estates neighborhood. In each case, damage was done to the rear windows of homes in an attempt to gain entry.

Upper Allen Police remind residents to promptly report any suspicious activity by dialing 911 any time during the day or night.

Child Dies After Being Struck by a Vehicle in a Residential Driveway

On January 23, 2014 at approximately 4:00 PM Upper Allen Police responded to a residence in the 1000 Block of South Market Street for the report of a child struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred in the private driveway area of a residence and the vehicle involved was operated by the homeowner. The child was flown by Life Lion to Hershey Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Police are continuing to investigate the incident but do not believe it to be criminal in nature. Upper Allen Police were assisted at the scene by Mechanicsburg Borough Police, West Shore EMS and Upper Allen Fire Department.

On Thursday, January 23, 2013 at 8:32 AM, Upper Allen Police investigated a crash at the intersection of South Market Street and Bumble Bee Hollow Road. The investigation determined that Keller attempted to turn left from South Market Street onto Bumble Bee Hollow Road from the incorrect turn lane. In doing so, his vehicle turned into the path of Clauser, resulting in a collision which disabled both vehicles. Both operators refused EMS treatment at the scene.

Hit and Run Crash involving Pedestrian in Upper Allen Township

On January 14, 2014 at approximately 8:25 PM Upper Allen Police were dispatched to the intersection of South Market Street and Gettysburg Pike for a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian. Johnson was attempting to cross South Market Street when a vehicle traveling in the intersection struck her causing minor injury. Johnson was transported for medical treatment by Camp Hill EMS.

The striking vehicle was described as a silver sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, with a PA registration plate. The driver of the striking vehicle was described as a heavy-set white male, approximately fifty years of age with a mustache.
