On December 27, 2011 @ 7:22 AM Upper Allen Police received several reports of vehicles that were broken into during the overnight hours. Unknown individuals stole items from vehicles in the area of the 500 Block of Geneva Drive and the 600 Block of Wayne Drive, Mechanicsburg. If anyone witnessed suspicious vehicles or persons in the area during these times, they are asked to contact Upper Allen Police at 717-795-2445 or our anonymous tip line 717-591-3790.

Police would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles as a matter of routine and do not let valuable items inside. This crime can be a common occurrence and is largely preventable with a few precautions.

Police Investigate Theft from Vending Machine

On December 18, 2011 Upper Allen Police were called to the Econo Lodge, 650 Gettysburg Road, Mechanicsburg to investigate a theft. A vending machine outside hotel had been forcibly opened and cash was taken from inside. Video surveillance captured several images of the suspect and his vehicle. The suspect is a tall black male, who was wearing an opened hooded jacket and no shirt. The suspect’s vehicle appears to be a black import sedan with six spoke wheels and a small spoiler on the trunk lid, possibly a 2000-2003 Nissan Maxima. Police Seek Information in Hit and Run Crash Involving Pedestrian

On December 11, 2011 at approximately 11:55 AM a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Gettysburg Pike and South York Street by a blue, newer model Acura sedan. The operator of the Acura failed to stop at the scene of the accident and continued north on Gettysburg Pike. The operator of the sedan is described as a white male in his late 30’s with black and gray hair. Township Roadways Become One-Way December 19th

Effective Monday, December 19, Hertzler Road will become one-way heading west from Arcona Road to Klinedinst Road. Hertzler Road will return to two-way traffic from Klinedinst Road west to Mt. Allen Drive. In addition, Klinedinst Road will also become one-way heading south towards East Lisburn Road. Travelers on East Lisburn Road will no longer be able to turn onto Klinedinst Road.

Police Seek Information about Construction Site Thefts

On December 7, 2011, Upper Allen Police investigated a burglary/theft from a construction site. During the initial investigation, multiple other victims were discovered in the same area. The thefts occurred in the Bumble Bee Hollow Development in the 2200 block of Mill Road, Mechanicsburg. The thefts likely occurred on the evening of December 6 between the hours of 8:30 PM and 6:45 AM. Unknown actors entered a newly constructed house and stole power and hand tools. The actors also broke into a storage trailer across the road and stole a water heater. The overall value of the stolen property exceeds several thousand dollars.
