On October 28, 2015 at 1700 hours, the Upper Allen Police responded to the 100 Block of Melbourne Lane for the daytime burglary of a residence in which gaming systems, controllers, games and cash were taken. One of the gaming systems was an XBOX ONE LE with serial number 034649233848 and sensor serial number 034160733847.

Upper Allen Police Warn Residents of Prowler and Attempted Burglary Incidents

On October 27, 2015 at approximately 10:30 PM, Upper Allen Township Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Lancaster Boulevard where a victim reported that an individual attempted to gain entry to an exterior patio. The suspect was witnessed fleeing the scene and was described as a young African-American male with a thin build and approximately 6’4″ tall. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and was last seen running towards Nanroc Drive.

The description of this suspect is similar to the description of an individual who attempted to burglarize residences in August and September of this year. All of these incidents have taken place in the same general area within Upper Allen Township and may also be related to similar prowler incidents which have been occurring in both Upper Allen and Lower Allen Townships. Upper Allen Police reminds all residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to be sure to keep all vehicles and residences locked and secured. If any suspicious persons or activities are observed, 911 should be contacted immediately.

Multiple Thefts from Vehicles in Melbourne Place

During the overnight hours, from October 25th into the 26th, several vehicles in the Melbourne Place development off Allendale Road were entered. The vehicles the suspects entered were unlocked. The items taken included wallets, cell phones, debit cards and sunglasses. Police remind residents to lock their car doors and take valuables inside their residence when the vehicle is unattended.

Investigators Attempting to Identify Suspects

On October 15, 2015 a theft of baby formula was reported from the Weis Market on Bumble Bee Hollow Road in Upper Allen Township. The pictured subjects are persons of interest from another incident involving a theft of similar products that occurred at a local Weis Market earlier in the month on October 2, 2015. Investigating officers believe the subjects pictured were possibly involved in both incidents. The subjects were last observed leaving the Bumble Bee Hollow store in a black Dodge Caliber containing the last four numeric of 0957.

Upper Allen Police Participate in St. Peter Oktoberfest

On Saturday October 24, 2015 the Upper Allen Township Police Department participated in St. Peter Lutheran Church’s Annual Oktoberfest. Upper Allen Officer’s provided Halloween safety handouts to the children and participated in games with the children. The Upper Allen Township Police Department appreciate being invited to this event and the opportunity to interact with our community.

Upper Allen Police Participate in Operation Safe Stop

On October 21, 2015 the Upper Allen Police participated in Operation Safe Stop. Operation Safe Stop is a proactive approach to educate the motoring public that passing a stopped school bus, when children are loading or unloading, is both dangerous and illegal. Law enforcement agencies, school transportation providers, pupil transportation associations, and PennDOT have combined their efforts to raise public awareness about the potential consequences and reduce the occurrence of illegal school bus passes. Operation Safe Stop is also designed to identify trouble spots, routes or stops with a high frequency of violations. Police are not required to observe the violation. Bus drivers can document information about the violating vehicle and provide that information to the Police within 48 hours. Illegally passing a school bus with red lights activated and the stop bar extended can result in a $250 fine and a 60 day license suspension.

Vehicle Sought in Connection with Theft from Construction Site

On Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 the Upper Allen Police responded to the 1700 block of Haralson Drive for a report of a theft from construction equipment. An investigation at the scene determined that sometime between 5:00 PM on October 20th, and 7:00 AM on October 21st, a Case 580 Super M series backhoe was entered and a driver’s seat assembly was taken. The silver minivan pictured above was seen at the construction site, being operated by a white male driver. Upper Allen Police are seeking information on the identity of the operator, and owner, in connection with this investigation. Upper Allen Police focus Enforcement Efforts against Aggressive Drivers

Between October 26, 2015 and November 22, 2015 the Upper Allen Police Department will participate with over 200 other Law Enforcement agencies across the state in a concentrated effort to address Aggressive Driving violations. The focus of this four week enforcement wave will be on motorists exhibiting unsafe driving behaviors such as speeding, driving on right side of roadway, driving too fast for conditions, careless driving, distracted driving, work zone safety, and any other aggressive driving actions. Enforcement of the Seat Belt Law will also be a focus of this grant-funded initiative.

The Upper Allen Police strive to keep township roadways safe for all those who use them and maintains an officer dedicated solely to Traffic Safety. Upper Allen Police Investigate Overnight Vehicle Break-in

On Thursday, October 15, 2015 the Upper Allen Police investigated a theft from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Sunguild Apartments in the 1070 block of Lancaster Boulevard. The suspect smashed out the window of a locked vehicle and stole a black Dell Latitude E5440 laptop (S/N: GX6CM32) and other items.

Residents are reminded to never leave valuable items in plain view inside their vehicles while they are unattended. Motorist Charged with Providing False Identification to Police

On March 12, 2015 an Upper Allen Police Officer stopped a vehicle operated by Coates for a traffic violation. Coates provided false information about his identity to the officer. At a later date, police learned that Coates provided false identification at the traffic stop and an investigation was conducted. At the conclusion of the investigation, Coates was charged with the above offense. On Monday, September 28, 2015, a preliminary hearing was held. Coates failed to appear for the hearing and the charge was bound over to the Court of Common Pleas.
