On January 26, 2024 at approximately 8:41 p.m., Upper Allen Police responded to a single vehicle crash on US Route 15 south at mile marker 37.4. Upon arrival, police found a Ford F150 crashed in the ditch to the right side of the highway. Further investigation determined that the operator, Sean Malo, was intoxicated. Malo was then arrested and transported to Cumberland County Prison for processing and a preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.

Upper Allen Police responded to a reported armed robbery at a home in the 1000 block of Lancaster Boulevard around 2:00pm today, January 31, 2024. A victim was assaulted during the robbery and suffered minor injuries. While the incident remains under investigation, police believe this was not a random act. On September 28, 2023, Upper Allen Police received the report of a theft at a local business. An investigation determined that Mark Pratt used modified currency to withdraw coins from a coin machine at the business. An arrest warrant was issued and on December 4, 2023, Pratt surrendered to police. On January 25, 2024, a preliminary hearing was held and Pratt pled guilty to Theft by Unlawful Taking.

In November of 2023, following an unrelated call for service, Upper Allen Police initiated a drug investigation on the home where Virginia Murphy resided. On November 17, 2023, Upper Allen Police executed a search warrant at her residence. During the search warrant, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in Murphy’s belongings. Murphy’s preliminary hearing was held on January 25, 2024, where Murphy plead guilty to a lesser charge.

On January 18, 2024, Upper Allen Police were invited to the Boy Scout Lodge 190 in Mechanicsburg to speak about drugs. Police provided an informative presentation which consisted of various topics to include but not limited to: drug identification, the dangers of drugs and the harm to one’s health, drug addiction, and how this information pertains to Scout Law and Scout Oath. Upper Allen Police are grateful for this opportunity to provide this useful information to the local Boy Scouts.
