On Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at approximately 8:16 AM, Upper Allen Police were dispatched to the scene of a six vehicle crash that occurred on US Route 15 North in the area of I-76. Five vehicles were traveling north in the left lane. A sixth vehicle, operated by Brennan, approached from behind. Brennan was checking a mirror and failed to see the vehicle in front of him. Brennan’s vehicle struck the rear of the vehicle in front of it causing a chain reaction collision with the other five vehicles ahead. Two vehicles had to be towed from the scene and one driver was transported by EMS for medical treatment. Upper Allen Police were assisted on scene by the Upper Allen Fire Department, West Shore EMS and PA State Police.

On December 11, 2011, Upper Allen Police were called to the scene of a hit and run accident at Cumberland Parkway Plaza, Mechanicsburg. Between 1:34 PM and 1:42 PM, a silver hatchback was struck by a white sedan with a female driver. The striking vehicle continued south on Gettysburg Pike as it exited the complex. The driver of the striking white sedan was described as a middle-aged white female with longer black hair and she was the lone occupant of the car. On December 9, 2011 at 5:50 PM, Upper Allen Police responded to a two vehicle crash just north of West Lisburn Road on Gettysburg Pike. Mills was traveling north on Gettysburg Pike when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the side of Erb’s vehicle, forcing him up an embankment. Both vehicles were towed form the scene. Both men suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

Upper Allen Township Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying two people depicted in these photo’s. There is an older male accompanied by a younger female who are “persons of interest” in relation to a break in of a motor vehicle and the use of a stolen credit card.

Upper Allen Police wish to highlight an important legislative amendment affecting young drivers. House Bill 9 Act 81, enacted on October 25, 2011 goes into effect on December 24, 2011. Here is a summary of the changes:

Title 75 § 1503(c)(2.1) Establishes new rules pertaining to junior driver’s carrying passengers. Click here to read more.

Title 75 § 1505(e)(2) Before a person under 18 years may take the examination for a junior driver’s license, the person must now complete ten hours of nighttime driving and five hours of inclement weather driving. Click here to read more.

Title 75 § 4581 Seat belt use is required for operators and passengers under 18 years and is now a primary offense. Click here to read more.
