On Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 9:20 AM Upper Allen Police were dispatched to the intersection of South Market Street and East Lisburn Road for an auto accident involving an emergency vehicle. Upon arrival, officers learned that Seth Hipple had been operating a fire vehicle in emergency mode while responding to a fire scene in York County. Hipple entered the intersection facing a red light and struck Morgan’s vehicle, causing it to spin into Pechart’s vehicle. The disabled emergency vehicle and Morgan’s vehicle were both towed from the scene. Morgan was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital by West Shore EMS for assessment of his injuries. Pechart refused EMS treatment for her injuries. Hipple and Pechart’s three juvenile passengers were not injured. The Upper Allen Police were assisted on the scene by the Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, West Shore Bureau of Fire, and West Shore EMS.

Overnight Burglary to a Business

The Upper Allen Township Police are investigating a burglary to a business located at 675 Williams Grove Road. Between 11:30 PM, August 11, 2010 and August 11, 2010 and 8:30 AM someone forced entry into a business and stole a black Sharp cash register model XE-A106. Upper Allen Police Host Sobriety Checkpoint

On Friday night, August 6, 2010, Upper Allen Police hosted a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint in the 1200 block of South Market Street. The checkpoint was funded by a grant through the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office. Upper Allen Police were assisted officers from various other Law Enforcement agencies in Cumberland County.

The event resulted the arrest of five (5) people for DUI, three (3) people for drugs, ten (10) written warnings, nine (9) citations and one (1) person who was found to have an active warrant for their arrest.

Police Seek Information on Recent Vandalism

On August 6, 2010 Upper Allen Township Police discovered a large amount of graffiti in a wooded area located behind the Mechanicsburg Cemetery, along the 800 Block of South York Street. Several large rocks and tress were marked with blue and purple spray paint. Help Identify a Thief

Back on May 18, 2010, we released information related to an unknown male that stole 19 DVD’s from the Giant Food Store in Upper Allen Township. The DVD’s were worth nearly $500 and the case remains open. Today we are adding additional photos with the hope that viewers will recognize this individual and provide us with a tip. The suspect was wearing a bright red Elmo shirt and drove away in what appears to be a blue-green 1996 to 2007 Dodge Caravan or similar minivan.
