Upper Allen Police Warn Residents of Telephone Scam

On January 10, 2023, several Upper Allen Township residents received telephone calls from someone claiming to be with the U.S. Border Patrol working with the Upper Allen Township Police Department. The scam attempts to solicit personal or financial information from the victim. Sometimes scammers will spoof the caller ID information to make the call appear as it is coming from a legitimate police agency. Scammers may also use the real name of a law enforcement officer in attempt to gain the trust of the victim.

Never provide personal or financial information to any unsolicited caller. A government agency will never call demanding money or payment though gift cards. If you receive a similar call, immediately hang up. If you wish to report or confirm a scam call, residents can call 717-795-2445 and press option 1 to speak to an on-duty officer.
