A Physical Security Threat Assessment (PSTA) is a comprehensive evaluation designed to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to a facility. The Upper Allen Township Police Department has members trained as Physical Security Specialists who will perform this assessment at any child-care center, school, place of worship, business, or critical infrastructure.
The depth of the PSTA depends on the size and criticality of the building being assessed. A typical PSTA involves a review of planning documents, site inspection, threat identification, risk assessment, and recommendations for security measures. The designated official for the facility is then provided a report and is tasked with implementing changes or accepting risk.
