On Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 6:40 am, Upper Allen Police were dispatched to a crash on US Route 15 south in the area of the PA Turnpike. An investigation revealed that Taveras’ vehicle broke down while in the left travel lane. His vehicle was struck by Gabel’s vehicle, which propelled Taveras’ vehicle in front of a tractor trailer operated by Hampton. All three vehicles sustained disabling damage and required towing. Taveras was transported to Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital for his injuries. Both southbound lanes of US Route 15 were shut down for approximately one hour. Upper Allen Police were assisted on the scene by the Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, Lower Allen Fire Department, and Geisinger Holy Spirit EMS.
