On Tuesday, May 7, 2019 the Upper Allen Police investigated a crash at the intersection of Shepherdstown Road and East Elmwood Avenue. The investigation determined that Mahmoud pulled out from East Elmwood Avenue into the path of Wilkin when it was not safe to do so, and Wilkin was unable to avoid the collision. Both Mahmoud and Wilkin were evaluated by EMS at the scene for reported injuries, and both declined to be transported to the hospital. The Upper Allen Police were assisted at the scene by the Mechanicsburg Police Department, the Upper Allen Fire Department, Geisinger-Holy Spirit EMS, and the Upper Allen Fire Police.
