On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Upper Allen Police were invited to the Early Childhood Center at Country & Town Baptist Church to do a presentation. The children were learning about community helpers. Upper Allen Police talked with the children about a police officer’s job, along with showcasing tools and equipment used by police officers. Upper Allen Police were grateful for the opportunity to interact with the children.

The Upper Allen Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 7:42 AM. A Dodge driven by Fleming was traveling west on East Lisburn Road in the area of McCormick Road. The Dodge lost traction on the wet roadway and crossed into the east bound travel lane. Seitz was operating a Jeep and traveling east when the Dodge entered the lane. The Dodge and Jeep collided causing damage to both vehicles. Fleming and one of her juvenile passengers reported minor injuries and were evaluated by EMS personnel on the scene.

The Upper Allen Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM on US Route 15 North at mile marker 39.7. A Chevrolet Cobalt, operated by Logan Bennett, was behind a Chevrolet Suburban occupied by Gaye and Irvin Turpin. Both vehicles were on the entrance ramp attempting to merge onto US Route 15. The vehicle driven by Turpin was unable to merge due to traffic. Bennet failed to recognize that Turpin was not merging and Bennett’s vehicle struck the rear of Turpin’s vehicle. Bennett suffered a minor head injury from the crash and was transported from the scene by an ambulance for medical treatment.

On Wednesday, September 23 at approximately 4:50 PM, the Upper Allen Police responded to US Route 15 northbound in the area of mile marker 35.9 for a crash in which a vehicle struck and killed a large animal, which blocked the left lane. The resulting emergency braking by vehicles approaching the first crash resulted in Altland being unable to stop his dump truck, which struck the rear end of Vargas-Rosario’s Jeep Liberty. Vargas-Rosario reported injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The Upper Allen Police were assisted at the scene by the Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Geisinger Holy Spirit EMS.

Lost Dog Spotted on Klinedinst Road

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 8:45 AM, Upper Allen Police received a report of a lost dog on Klinedinst Road. The concerned individual stated that the dog appeared to be in trouble and in need of help as it was covered in burrs. Information was located for the dog’s owner. The dog is a 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd named ‘Sadie’. She is mostly black with some brown with a purple collar. Sadie was last seen headed west from the intersection of Klinedinst Road and Hertzler Drive.
*The owner advises that people should not approach the dog. She asks that individuals keep an eye on Sadie and then contact UAPD.*
