Upper Allen Business Sponsors Youth Bicycle Helmet Campaign

July 26, 2015

Maggie’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard has sponsored a program to encourage youths to wear their bicycle helmets. The owners of the business have supplied the Upper Allen Police with gift cards which are good for a free small Italian Ice. Upper Allen Police Officers on patrol will be on the look out for youths who are making the responsible decision to wear their bicycle helmets. As Officers meet youths wearing their helmets, they will be provided one of these coupons which they may redeem at Maggie’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard during their normal business hours.

As a reminder, anyone under 12 years old who is riding a bicycle on a Pennsylvania roadway is required to wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet which meets all of the current safety standards of the American National Safety Standards Institute, American Society for Testing and Materials, Snell Memorial Foundation’s Standards for Protective Headgear for Use in Bicycling or any other nationally recognized standard for bicycle helmet safety.

The Upper Allen Township Police would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners of Maggie’s for their idea to implement this program and their commitment to the safety of our youth.
