On May 11, 2012 at approximately 11:00 AM the Upper Allen Township Police received additional reports of bear sightings in the township. A bear was reported seen at the intersection of Gettysburg Pike and Grantham Road and another sighting was reported on Gettysburg Pike near Old Hollow Road. Based on the timing and location of the reports it is believed there were two young bears in the township at that time. There are no reports of the bears being hostile or aggressive towards any person.
Residents are asked to move trash containers and bird feeders inside so as not to attract the bear. If a bear is seen do not approach the bear or attempt to confine the bear in any way. The Upper Allen Police Department is working cooperatively with the PA Game Commission and residents are asked to call the Upper Allen Police Department at 717-238-9676 regarding any additional sightings.
