Afternoon Crash Sends Motorcyclist to the Hospital

On May 30, 2011 at 12:13 PM, Shelly was beginning to turn left onto Grantham Road while traveling west on West Lisburn Road. Hobaugh, operating a motorcycle, was traveling east on West Lisburn Road. Shelly saw Hobaugh approaching and discontinued his left turn and remained in the westbound travel lane. It appears that Hobaugh, anticipating a crash, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off of the bike. Hobaugh then slid into the front of Shelly’s stopped vehicle. Hobaugh was taken by ambulance to Hershey Medical Center, his condition was unknown at the time of this press release.

Police were assisted at the scene by Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, West Shore and Lower Allen EMS.

Theft of a Cellular Phone Reported

On May 25, 2011 at approximately 8:30 PM, Upper Allen Police received a report that a cellular phone was left at the Giant, 255 Cumberland Parkway, Mechanicsburg. The owner mistakenly left the phone at the store and when they returned to retrieve it, the phone was gone. The owner believes it was stolen from the store. The missing phone is an HTC Inspire 4G cellular phone, serial number HT11ST206423 (similar to the one pictured above). Police Speed Advisory Trailer Vandalized

On May 25, 2011 between 7:30 PM and 11:45 PM someone threw a large rock at speed advisory trailer destroying the display. The unit was located on Diehl Road between South York Street and Williams Grove Road when the damage occurred. A similar incident occurred the day before in which a rock was thrown at the display, however the unit remained operable.

The display trailer is owned by PADOT and is used by police in various locations where speeding is a concern. The display alerts drivers to the actual speed their car is traveling so they can adjust accordingly. Residential Burglary Reported

On May 23, 2011 at approximately 2:00 PM, Upper Allen Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Fleming Drive for a report of a residential burglary. An investigation found that entry was made to the house through an open garage door. Actors then removed alcoholic beverages from a refrigerator inside the garage. Residents are urged to remain vigilant about home security, to include ensuring that their doors are locked and secured whenever they are not present.

Car Strikes Utility Pole in Early Morning Crash

On Saturday May 21, 2011 at approximately 5:10 AM Upper Allen Township Police were dispatched to the 2500 Block of Arcona Road for a vehicle into a utility pole. The operatror, Yinger, was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital for evaluation. The roadway was shut down for approximately one and a half hours until PPL could respond to repair the damaged pole. Police were assisted at the scene by Upper Allen Township Fire Department and fire police from Upper Allen and Lisburn Fire Companies.
