Trees Stolen in Three Incidents

Upper Allen Township Police are seeking assistance in identifying who is responsible for stealing six young trees from the Winding Hills East Park, located off East Winding Hill Road, Mechanicsburg. The first theft of a recently planted kousa dogwood is believed to have occurred between May 29th and May 31st. The second theft of a kousa dogwood likely occurred at night between May 31st and June 1st. A third complaint was filed June 11, 2012 reporting two red maples and two tulip poplar trees were stolen over the weekend of June 9th.

Anyone with information regarding these thefts should contact Upper Allen Police at 717-795-2445 or on the anonymous tip line at 717-591-3790. Readers with knowledge of kousa dogwoods, red maples or tulip poplar trees recently planted under any suspicious circumstances are also encouraged to call.

Single Car Crash into Utility Pole

On May 26, 2012, Upper Allen Police received a report that a car crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of West Lisburn Road and Mill Road. Follette was traveling east on West Lisburn Road approaching the intersection of Mill Road in a Subaru station wagon. Just before reaching the intersection, Follette swerved to the right and stuck a utility pole causing extensive damage. Follette, the sole occupant of the car, was removed by emergency personnel and transported to the hospital by West Shore EMS for evaluation. The crash is under investigation.

Reward Offered in Theft of Grave Markers

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information resulting in the recovery of stolen graves markers.

On May 18, 2012, Upper Allen Police received a report that over forty (40) bronze memorial flag holders were stolen from Chestnut Hill Cemetery off West Winding Hill Road, Mechanicsburg sometime overnight on May 16th into May 17th, 2012. The holders commemorate the deceased’s military service and are made of bronze. Two suspicious white males in their 50′s were observed in the cemetery on May 15, 2012 operating a burgundy older model pick up truck.

The reward money has been graciously provided by Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg. Additionally, the funeral home has agreed to reimburse the Cumberland County Veterans’ Affairs Office for the replacement of the stolen markers.

Missing Runaway Located

On May 22, 2012 at 9:35 AM Destiny Gay was located at a residence in Mechanicsburg, PA in the company of friends. Police also discovered Gay was with another runaway reported missing from Lower Allen Township. Upper Allen Police were assisted at the location of the recovery by Mechanicsburg Borough Police.
